The lawyer for three prominent members of Gambia's Olympic committee said Tuesday they had pleaded not guilty to charges of stealing money from the body.

Lamin Camara told The Associated Press that Beatrice Allen, the body's acting president and an IOC member, treasurer Ousman Wadda and accounts officer Muhammed Janneh deny charges of embezzling $1,300.

The three were arrested Friday and held in jail until they were granted bail on Monday. The case was adjourned until Feb. 2

The 60-year-old Allen has been a member of the IOC since 2006. She serves on the coordination commission for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The IOC said it was gathering information amid reports of government interference in the GNOC, which is not allowed by the Olympics' governing body.
