Friedrich of Germany set to keep 2-man bobsled world title

WINTERBERG, Germany (AP) Francesco Friedrich of Germany is on course to retain his two-man bobsled world championship after posting the fastest time over two heats on Friday.
Friedrich and partner Thorsten Magris were .46 seconds ahead of World Cup winner Oskars Melbardis of Latvia and his teammate Daumants Dreiskens.
Another Latvian duo, pilot Ugis Zalims and pusher Intars Dambis, was .48 seconds behind the leaders.
South Korean driver Won Yun-jong and partner Seo Young-woo were in fourth, .54 back.
