A female Olympic executive will lead Baku's bid for the 2020 Summer Games.

Konul Nurullayeva has been chosen as the CEO of the bid from the energy-rich former Soviet republic.

Nurullayeva heads an international relations department at Azerbaijan's National Olympic Committee and is secretary general of several national sports federations.

She says her goal will be ''to bring the joys and passions of the world's greatest sporting event to the Caucasus for the first time.''

Azerbaijan's Minister for Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov calls Nurullayeva a ''great example and inspiration to the young people of Azerbaijan.''

Baku is competing against Doha, Qatar; Istanbul, Turkey; Madrid; Rome; and Tokyo. The IOC will select the host city in Sept. 2013.
