SOCHI, Russia (AP) Germany's Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken secured the men's doubles luge World Cup title despite finishing only seventh in Sochi on Saturday.

Eggert and Benecken secured the title with 1,071 points, just 16 more than compatriots and Olympic champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arndt, who won Saturday's final race over two runs.

The round in Sochi doubled as the European championships, meaning Wendl and Arndt added that title to their collection.

Austria's Peter Penz and Georg Fischler were second, and Latvian brothers Andris and Juris Sics third.
