Australia tops Netherlands for men's title at field hockey World Cup

Defending champion Australia beat the Netherlands 6-1 to win the men's field hockey World Cup behind three goals from Chris Ciriello.

Earlier Sunday, Argentina defeated England 2-0 for the bronze medal.

The Dutch king and queen and three princesses were part of the crowd of 15,000.

The Netherlands got off to a good start Sunday when Jeroen Hertzberger opened the scoring in the 14th minute. But Ciriello tied it six minutes later on the first of his three successful penalty corners.

Kieran Govers, Glenn Turner and Jamie Dwyer also scored for the winners.
