Thousands of Olympic athletes have begun marching into the closing ceremony to celebrate the end of the London Games in joyous fashion.

Led into the stadium by the delegation from Greece, flag-waving athletes from around the world are taking part in the show following 16 days of competition in 26 sports.

Among the flagbearers is Kenyan runner David Rudisha, who broke the world record in the 800 meters, and four-time sailing gold medalist Ben Ainslie of Britain.

They'll stay in the stadium for a show featuring musical performances by the Spice Girls, The Who, George Michael, Annie Lennox, the Pet Shot Boys, One Direction, Ray Davies and the surviving members of Queen.
