Annecy officials have increased their bid budget for the 2018 Winter Olympics to nearly $43 million after securing six new sponsorship deals with private French companies.

Annecy bid chief Charles Beigbeder says the companies - Air France, Gaz de France-Suez, GL Events, Havas Sports and Entertainment, Institut Merieux and LVHM - have committed $4.3 million to the campaign.

Beigbeder says the extra money will ''allow us to be more efficient in the international promotion of our bid during the remaining days of the campaign.''

Annecy is making its first Olympic bid and is competing against Pyeongchang, South Korea, and Munich. The IOC will select the host city on July 6 in Durban, South Africa.
