Americans lead dance at world juniors

SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) Americans Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker won the short dance Wednesday at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships.
They upset Junior Grand Prix Final champions Anna Yanovskaya and Sergey Mozgov of Russia. And another U.S. couple, Lorraine McNamara and Quinn Carpenter, stood third.
Hawayek and Baker's quickstep to ''Happy Feet'' and ''Sing Sing Sing,'' as well as their fox trot to ''It Had to Be You'' featured intricate footwork and a smooth rotational lift. The Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalists were the only team to collect a level four for all five elements and posted a personal best score of 66.73 points.
Yanovskaya/Mozgov turned in a solid performance of their dance set to ''Puttin' on the Ritz'' and ''Fever'' to score 63.80 points.
McNamara and Carpenter were at 58.65 points.
