Two-time Olympic champion Julien Absalon won the mountain bike test event Sunday for the 2012 London Games.
The Frenchman finished 1 minute, 20 seconds ahead of Switzerland's Christoph Sauser after seven laps of the 2.9-mile course at Hadleigh Farm, east of London.
In the women's six-lap race in front of nearly 5,000 spectators, top-ranked Catharine Pendrel of Canada beat Georgie Gould of the United States by 56 seconds.
London Olympics official Debbie Jevans says some of the 82 riders suggested adding an extra lap, widening the lanes and slowing the course for next year's event.
