During a World Series by Renault race at Silverstone in September, two large crashes took place on the opening lap, the second of which sent a car airborne.

The first crash involved Jehan Daruvala, who was spun off by another car and landed upside-down on top of a tire barrier but was able to walk away.

The second crash, however, is the one that makes this list, as Ferdinand Habsburg’s car was shot into the air before slamming back down onto the ground during a multi-car pileup. Habsburg was taken to the medics on a stretcher and the race was red flagged, but was later restarted once the debris had been cleared. Fortunately, Habsburg was able to recover and race another day.
