EPPING, N.H. (AP) Ron Capps set a track record and raced to the Funny Car qualifying lead Friday in the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway.
Capps powered his Dodge Charger R/T to a 3.865-second run at 325.92 mph in the first session.
''This is a fantastic track,'' Capps said. ''I think that run will be broken and hopefully it's by our NAPA team but I think several cars are going to run better we could see three or four cars run quicker.''
Steve Torrence led in Top Fuel, and Jason Line topped the Pro Stock field. Torrence had a track-record time of 3.710 at 325.92, and Line ran a 6.567 at 211.13 in a Chevrolet Camaro.
