Roczen stops Dungey from clinching championship with Foxborough win

Ryan Dungey will have to wait at least another week to find out if he will win his third Monster Energy Supercross Championship this year.
The defending champ could have clinched the championship on Saturday with a win, or a second if Ken Roczen didn’t win.
However, although when the gate dropped at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, it was Dungey with the holeshot, Ken Roczen soon challenged the Red Bull KTM rider and took the lead away.
Dungey then had to fight to keep his 30-race long podium streak alive as Eli Tomac and Jason Anderson passed him and pushed him back to fourth place.
However, Dungey was able to retake Anderson for third position before the checkered flag fell.
Meanwhile, in the 250SX class, Malcolm Stewart was able to extend his points lead despite falling from first to third in the closing stages of the main event. Dakota Alix took the holeshot but soon lost the lead to Shane McElrath. Malcolm Stewart soon followed McElrath by and took the lead before the end of Lap 1, by which point Alix had crashed and fallen far behind. Stewart ran away with the lead in the first half of the race but then lost spots to eventual race winner Martin Davalos and then Jeremy Martin, who placed second. However, Stewart still finished ahead of Aaron Plessinger and extended his points lead to just five points.
