Lafayette was one of the cities heavily impacted by the flooding this summer in Louisiana.

However, that hasn't stopped it from sponsoring one of the Mazda Miatas in the 2016 Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup.

Sarah Montgomery, a resident of Lafayette, has been running the No. 14 Miata for ALARA Racing full-time this year in the series. She sits 14th in the points heading into the season-ending doubleheader at Road Atlanta at the end of the month.

Back home, Montgomery's house was one of the many that was flooded in southern Louisiana over the summer. However, Montgomery still races with the name of the city on her car, helping promote the city's tourism.

The city, known to many as the "Happiest City in America," has been significantly shaped by the Cajuns and, subsequently, boasts a variety of different things to see and experience due to its cultural history.

2016 is not the first year that the city has sponsored Montgomery's car. Lafayette also rode aboard Montgomery's Miata during her rookie season in the MX-5 Cup in 2015.

This year, Montgomery, like the rest of the field, has had to get used to the new 2016 MX-5 Cup Car, which the series designed to make the cars more identical so that the races could be won and lost in the hands of the driver.

While the paints on all of the cars may be different, Montgomery has helped change that a bit too, placing a sticker for the Lemons of Love cancer organization on her car alongside her Lafayette sponsorship. Montgomery's friend had been diagnosed with colon cancer in 2014. Knowing that lemons helped remove the metallic taste out of a chemo patient's mouth, Montgomery's friend started bringing in gift baskets filled with the citrus fruit into the waiting rooms to help lift the spirits of the patients around her. Eventually, others began donating money to keep her bringing in the gift baskets.

Montgomery placed the Lemons of Love sticker on her car to help support her friend's cause. As the story made its way around the paddock, other drivers have started placing the sticker on their cars too.

With the city of Lafayette and Lemons of Love riding onboard her No. 14 machine, it just goes to show you that no sticker is without a story.
