Andrea Iannone's reputation as one of the fastest and toughest riders in MotoGP will be fully tested at the Motorland Circuit in Spain this weekend.
The rising star of the factory Ducati team will race in the Aragon GP despite suffering a painful shoulder dislocation while on a training run last week, his second such injury this season.
Iannone, 26, is undergoing electro-medical tecar therapy will not be 100 percent fit. He faces the prospect of corrective survey after the final race of the season at Valencia in November.
Iannone is currently fourth in the championship standings behind the three untouchable aliens Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez.
Iannone has 159 points and is well clear of his more experienced Ducati teammate Andrea Dovizioso who is sixth in the standings with 128 points.
“Unfortunately last week I tripped over while I was out training. In the fall, I put my arms out to protect myself, but a sudden movement caused my shoulder to pop out again," Iannone said.
Iannone suffered his first dislocation of his left shoulder in May during a test session at Mugello.
"I have been undergoing a couple of hours of tecar treatment a day, but it will be a tough weekend for me, because the track has many direction changes, ups and downs and a lot of hard braking," he added.
"I clearly won’t be 100 percent on form, but at least I’ll be there."
Iannone qualified on pole for the Italian GP at Mugello and finished second to Yamaha star Lorenzo.
The Aragon GP, which rewards high-horsepower top speed with two fast straights, is expected to provide benchmark of how competitive the Ducati GP15 against the domination of Honda and Yamaha.
