James Stewart wins first Red Bull Straight Rhythm title


James Stewart won the inaugural Red Bull Straight Rhythm by sweeping Justin Brayton in the finals Saturday night.
The head-to-head format started with 32 riders in two classes on a straight half-mile course filled with jumps, whoops and table tops.
Stewart, a champion in motocross and Supercross, opened by beating Scott Champion, then took out Josh Hansen in the quarterfinals of the open class. Stewart then beat his brother, Malcolm Stewart, to earn a shot in the finals against Brayton, who beat Dean Wilson in the semifinals.
Stewart beat Brayton in the first two races of the best-of-three format to win the title.
Action-sports star Travis Pastrana didn't make get past the first round in his return to competitive motocross racing, losing to Hansen.
Marvin Musquin won the 250cc class.
