Injury update after MotoGP race at Misano


Mike di Meglio and Alex De Angelis were both injured during last weekend's MotoGP racing events at Misano.
Avintia Racing’s Mike di Meglio underwent surgery on Monday at the Quiron Dexeus hospital in Barcelona on the fractured bones in left his hand sustained when he crashed out of Sunday’s race at Misano.
Di Meglio traveled to Barcelona on Sunday night and was operated on Monday morning by Dr. Xavier Mir to rectify fractures of the fourth and fifth metacarpal of his left hand.
Di Meglio will be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday morning and will return to France to begin his rehabilitation with the aim of riding in the forthcoming round of the World Championship at Motorland Aragon.
Meanwhile, following medical checks for Alex De Angelis on Monday, a scaphoid fracture has been detected in the rider’s right wrist.
De Angelis went to the Hospital of the State of San Marino on Monday for a medical check up to investigate the cause of pain in his right wrist, which had complicated his home race weekend.
A magnetic resonance scan showed a fracture to the carpal scaphoid of the right wrist. The injury was immobilised with a wrist brace by Dr. Simone Grana.
The NGM Forward Racing rider will undergo daily magnetic TECAR therapy and laser therapy in order to recover and be ready for the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon.
