IndyCar: First look at NOLA Motorsports Park

Tickets went on sale Monday for the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana at NOLA Motorsports Park, which will be held from April 10-12, 2015.

The newly-built racing course measures 2.67 miles in length and incorporates 13 corners.

Michael Andretti joined Team Penske driver Will Power at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. local time at the new Avondale, La., circuit on Monday to kick off ticket sales, followed by a visit with patients at Ochsner Hospital for Children.

Power, who also took a minute to test a go-kart out on NOLA’s go-kart course, gave his thoughts on the circuit in an interview with sportsNOLA.com.

“The track, you can see from anywhere, any point around, any grandstand you can see the whole track,” noted 2014 IndyCar champion Will Power. “We’re always happy to come to a new market but this one in particular, I think it’s a great destination for people to come anyway, you know, big party town and it’s going to be a real event - the racing’s going to be awesome

“I think the way they’ve laid it out is going to create a lot of passing … the biggest thing is having long straights, to get the top speed up, which this has and some very fast corners so it’s a real driver’s track and I think the drivers are going to enjoy it but I think it’s going to be great for the fans, I think it’s going to create some really good racing.”
