The GPDA has launched its Global Fan Survey as it attempts to help to find ways to improve the sport. It was unveiled by the drivers in Monaco on Thursday, with the support of Bernie Ecclestone.

In a statement, the organization said: "Open to all fans and available in 12 languages, we want this to be the biggest and most in-depth survey of fan opinion ever undertaken by any sport in the world. With your participation of fans, we can make that happen.

"Questions will cover every aspect of F1 -- the sport, the show, and the rules, (past, present and future). Whether fans are into F1 glamor or technical innovation, lifestyle or hardcore racing, our global survey gives them the chance to have their say."

GPDA director Jenson Button added: "We understood that fans want to be integrated, so we drivers wanted to connect with the fans around the world. We want to listen to what they think, why they follow the sport, how they see us and the F1 industry."

The GPDA says that the objectives of its 'Racing United' initiative are as follows:

-- Reach out to our fans, add more value, inspire more passion and help build a new generation of followers.

-- Cooperate with the rule makers and rights holders especially as they seek to make racing ever more exciting.

-- Support the constant quest for safety innovation and race with respect for our fellow drivers.

-- Encourage the latest safety developments to reach the grass roots of our sport, quickly and cost effectively.

-- Demonstrate to our huge global audience that safety and sustainability in our sport can help promote safer and cleaner mobility on our roads.
