Ferrari tops Friday practice in China, and Vettel promises more speed

Ferrari proved fastest in China on Friday, but Sebastian Vettel insisted that there's still more to come from the Maranello team.
Vettel, who was just edged out by teammate Kimi Raikkonen in FP2, said he still wasn't happy with the balance of the car.
“It's always our objective to go for pole, but I think it's only Friday, so I wouldn't stress too much,” he said. “I think we had a decent day, the car feels OK for one lap. For the long run I didn't have the opportunity yet to see what the other people were doing. Overall, I think we can still improve. The balance is not yet there where I want it to be, so let's see what we can do.
“Friday is not that important in terms of position, it's more important in terms of feel. The feel was OK, but OK is not good, so I think we can still improve, especially the balance of the car. A lot of work tonight trying to get on top of everything.”
Regarding Ferrari's tire usage, he added: “I think that's something we can always improve. I think China is quite brutal on the tires for everyone, you can see they were sliding a lot. Tire degradation was quite high. One lap is good for quali, but in the race ideally you want to have a lot of good laps in a row. That's our main focus.”
Vettel said he was not concerned about being beaten by Raikkonen on Friday.
“It's normal to compare, I was looking at some of his stuff. I think I saw where he was faster, it's easy to see when you know how to read the lines, not so easy to do. I think he got a better lap. I think we both had a different program this afternoon, it's useful to compare one versus the other, and hopefully learn for the both of us.”
