Dungey holds off Roczen in Indy while Plessinger takes first 250SX win

Ryan Dungey took his 29th career 450SX Main Event win Saturday night at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. It was his seventh win of the season.
However, it was also probably one of his toughest races of 2016, thanks a lot due to deep ruts that formed around the circuit.
Mike Alessi took the holeshot, but it was Ken Roczen who was keeping Dungey honest throughout the entire race after the two quickly disposed of Alessi on the opening lap. Tomac soon followed into third position.
Roczen took the lead with four laps to go when Dungey made a mistake, only to then make one of his own and give the lead back to the defending champion. Dungey held onto it and never looked back, although the roar of Roczen’s Suzuki was never far behind.
Meanwhile, Jason Anderson rallied his way through the field to a third place finish to score his third-consecutive podium despite a bad start.
There were plenty of smiles to go around in the 250SX East class as Aaron Plessinger got his first career heat win followed by his first career main event win. This moved Plessinger up to second in the points, just 10 markers back of Malcolm Stewart.
Stewart finished second in the main and joined Plessinger in a post-race celebration, dancing on-track after the finish line for the fans. Meanwhile, Gannon Audette also had reason to celebrate with a third-place finish after taking the Holeshot at the start. Audette then fell back down the order, but was able to salvage a podium finish when Jeremy Martin crashed out. Martin dropped from second to fourth in the points.
Monster Energy Supercross will be back in action next weekend at St. Louis, with LIVE coverage beginning at 3 p.m. ET Saturday on FOX.
