Psychedelic illustrator and graphic artist Peter Max is being sued after selling a collection of 36 historic Corvettes earlier this year.

A VH1 Corvette sweepstakes took place in 1989, with the collection of 36 Corvettes (one per year from 1953 - 1989, bar 1983) being awarded to Dennis Amodeo, who then sold them to pop artist Max for $250K, reports The New York Times.

The collection moved from storage unit to storage unit for several years, rotting while Max’s planned project on creating pieces of artwork of the Corvettes stalled. This summer, the collection was finally purchased by the Heller family for an undisclosed amount.

While life may be looking good for the Corvettes, which may now be repaired and put back on the road, life for Peter Max isn’t going so swimmingly.

Now, according to the New York Post, Max and his agent Larry Moskowitz are being sued for $1 million by Jeff Wallner and Kenneth Simmons, who claim that they got cheated out of commissions. Max had recruited Wallner and Simmons to sell the collection in exchange for a 10 percent commission, which they claim was never paid.
