Robert Warzycha signs extension with Crew

The Columbus Crew and owners, the Hunt Sports Group, have reached agreement with third-year coach Robert Warzycha (vahr-ZEE'-hah) on a new multiyear contract.

“I believe Robert’s record speaks for itself and that he has unquestionably earned the opportunity to continue leading our club,” Crew president and general manager Mark McCullers said in a statement.

Length and terms of the deal were not revealed.

Warzycha, one of the Crew's best players, is in his 10th season on the club's coaching staff. He is 45-2-28 in the MLS regular season and is 55-41-33 in all competitions. His teams are 30-8-11 for a .724 winning percentage at home.

“I’m encouraged by the direction we’re headed and it is rewarding to know that the organization believes in my coaching philosophy,” he said in a statement.

The Crew are in first place in the Eastern Conference with an 11-8-7 record and 40 points.
