Marco Di Vaio scored in the 14th minute and the Montreal Impact beat the New York Red Bulls 1-0 on Saturday to improve to 4-0.
New York (0-2-2) finished the match short a man after defender Brandon Barklage was sent off for taking down Patrice Bernier at the edge of the penalty area in the 74th minute.
The Red Bulls had a slight edge in ball possession, but the Impact dominated the scoring chances and wasted a handful of opportunities to pad the lead.
A crowd of 26,259 saw Di Vaio whiff on a perfect setup from Andres Romero, have a shot from the left side blocked by Luis Robles and tip another ball just wide in the second half alone.
The Impact scored first for a fourth straight game in the 14th when goalkeeper Troy Perkins sent a long ball up the middle that was headed down to Bernier. The playmaker slipped a pass through the New York defense to Di Vaio, who beat Robles to the left side for his second goal of the season.
The Red Bulls new signing from Paris St. Germain, Peguy Luyindula, played his first game at forward and had his side's best chance of the first half. Heath Pearce's attempt off Juninho's free kick was deflected by Perkins to the top of the box, where Luyindula chipped it over the bar in the 38th minute. And Luyindula was in front again in the second, but only got a touch on a feed from the right side and was stopped by Perkins.
Thierry Henry wasn't available for New York because of a knee injury.
The Impact played their first two home games in Olympic Stadium and will move outdoors to Saputo Stadium for an April 16 match with Columbus.
New England, Sporting KC draw
The New England Revolution and Sporting KC played to a scoreless tie Saturday.
It was the second straight shutout match for both clubs. New England (1-1-1) is scoreless through 208 minutes, and Sporting KC (1-1-2) is scoreless in 203 minutes.
Sporting KC goalie Jimmy Nielsen didn't have to make a save en route to his second shutout of the season, while New England's Matt Reis stopped five shots in posting his second shutout.
Sporting KC, 0-2-3 in its meetings with New England, had its best scoring chance in the 19th minute when C.J. Sapong banged a ball off of the crossbar out of a goalmouth scramble.
During the second half, Sporting KC had two other good chances - a header by Ike Opara off of a corner kick in the 49th minute that was stopped by Reis, and a header by Sapong, off of another corner kick in the 83rd.
New England totaled six corner kicks, five during the first half of play, all off the toe of Lee Nguyen, but none created a shot. The Revolution's best opportunity came in the 78th minute on Juan Toja's direct kick, but the ball sailed over the crossbar.
Houston ends losing skid
Warren Creavalle and Giles Barnes scored 6 minutes apart in the second half to help the Houston Dynamo beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 on Saturday night.
After Barnes beat goalkeeper Joe Cannon with a header in the 56th minute, Creavalle found a loose ball in the box and kicked it past Cannon in the 62nd minute for the Dynamo (2-1)
The win helped the Dynamo extend their home unbeaten streak to 27 games, dating to July 2011. Houston has never lost at its new home, BBVA Compass Stadium
FC Dallas edges Real Salt Lake
Jackson scored a second-half goal and assisted on assisted on another in FC Dallas' 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.
Jackson scored in the 81st minute after he stole the ball from goalkeeper Josh Saunders outside of the goalie's box and tapped a shot into the center of the net. Saunders dribbled out of the net attempting to make a clearance before Jackson came around the left side to make the steal.
In the 71st minute, Jackson helped give FC Dallas the lead with a volley over the head of Salt Lake's Lovel Palmer. Fabian Castillo took possession of the pass outside the penalty area before dribbling around Palmer and firing a shot from about 15 yards into the left corner of the net. FC Dallas is 3-0 at home this season and 3-1-0 for the season. Real Salt Lake dropped to 1-2-1.
