Chicago keeps playoff hopes alive

Alvaro Fernandez and Chris Rolfe scored to help the Chicago Fire beat Toronto FC 2-1 on Wednesday night in Major League Soccer. Chicago moved into second place in the East, improving to 14-8-5 with its fifth victory in six games.
Eric Hassli scored for Toronto, 0-6-2 in its last eight games and 5-17-6 overall.
A crowd of 14,623 attended the game, the smallest for a league game at BMO Field this season.
Fernandez opened the scoring on a header in the 13th minute, and Rolfe made it 2-0 in the 42nd. Hassli scored in the 79th minute.

Chicago also won the two previous meetings this season, 3-2 in Toronto and 2-1 in Chicago.
