Zanotti hospitalized after being hit in head by golf ball, exits KLM Open


Fabrizio Zanotti was hospitalized Thursday after he was hit in the head by an errant golf ball at the European Tour's KLM Open.
Zanotti, 31, of Paraguay, was on the on the 16th fairway at Kennemer Golf and Country Club in Zandvoort, Netherlands, when he was struck in the forehead by a tee shot from Alexandre Kaleka on the adjacent 14th hole.
Zanotti did not lose consciousness, according to the European Tour, and received medical attention on the course from a doctor and a paramedic. The doctor onsite determined that Zanotti was not in immediately danger before the player was transported to a local hospital for further medical assessment.
Fellow competitors Felipe Aguilar of Chile and Ricardo Gonzalez of Argentina accompanied Zanotti to the hospital and withdrew from the tournament to stay with him.
The tournament was suspended for nearly two hours to allow Zanotti to be treated, and play resumed at 1 p.m. local time.
Zanotti was even par through six holes after having started on the back nine.
"The latest report from hospital is that all neurological tests have come back clear," said Miguel Vidaor, the European Tour's tournament director. "We wish Fabrizio a speedy recovery."
