Karrie Webb is Australian, so surely she has seen a kangaroo or two.
Her latest glimpse came Thursday during the first round of the Women's Australian Open at Royal Canberra Golf Club at Canberra, Australia. Fortunately, photographer Stefan Postles was in just the right spot to capture the scene in the image above.
Webb casually waited out the delay on the ninth hole as the mob moved through the fairway. It certainly didn't faze her as she opened the LPGA Tour's first event of 2013 at 2-under-par 71. (Amateur Lydia Ko leads at 10-under 63.)
This tournament has had a wildlife theme. On Wednesday, Sweden's Daniela Holmqvist was bitten by a spider on the fourth hole of a pre-qualifier. She used her tee to cut open the bite and squeeze the venom out before playing her final 14 holes. And Webb had a more routine animal encounter on the 14th hole as she was greeted by a flock of birds (pictured, right).
