Marc Warren shot a 6-under 66 to take a one-stroke clubhouse lead in the opening round of the season-ending Dubai World Championship from Padraig Harrington and Fredrik Andersson Hed on Thursday.
Warren, looking for his first European Tour win since 2007, holed three birdies in his first five holes and made seven in total at the $8 million tournament.
After Andersson Hed and Harrington, Henrik Stenson and four others were at 4 under.
Top-ranked Rory McIlroy has already wrapped up the European and PGA Tour money titles, so the Race To Dubai is lacking in drama this week.
