UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. (AP) A glance at Sunday's final round of the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay:
Winner: Jordan Spieth at 5-under 265. Spieth birdied the 72nd hole, and then watched Dustin Johnson three-putt from 12 feet with a chance to win or force a playoff. Spieth claimed his second major of the year after winning at the Masters in April.
Wild swings: Spieth took a two-shot lead, moving to 6 under after making a 25-foot birdie on the 16th hole. Spieth's wayward tee shot on No. 17 led to a double bogey, while Johnson made birdie at No. 17. That left Johnson, Spieth and Louis Oosthuizen, who shot 67 and finished head of the other two, all tied at 4 under, setting the stage for the dramatic final hole.
Out of gas: Jason Day, who collapsed because of vertigo on the final hole of his second round and shot 68 to move into a tie for the lead on Saturday, ran out of steam in the final round. Day shot 74 and finished tied for ninth at even par.
Noteworthy: Spieth became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2002 to win the first two majors. No one has ever won the modern Grand Slam.
Key stat: Lost in the dramatic finish, Adam Scott shot 64 with six birdies and no bogeys. He tied for the second-lowest final round in U.S. Open history and finished in a tie for fourth at 3 under.
Quoteworthy: ''I'm still amazed that I won, let alone that we weren't playing tomorrow. So for that turnaround right there, to watch that happen, I feel for Dustin, but I haven't been able to put anything in perspective yet,'' Spieth said.
