Spectators yell 'Rest in peace, Harambe' after Jordan Spieth putt at PGA Championship

The PGA Championship kicked off Thursday at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey, and fans at the event are already cheering their heads off.

More specifically, they're making noise for Harambe, the 17-year-old Western lowland gorilla who was shot by zookeepers at the Cincinnati Zoo in May after a three-year-old boy fell into his enclosure.

The endangered ape's death was followed by Internet outrage, memes and on Thursday, fans yelling "Rest in peace, Harambe!" after a Jordan Spieth putt.

Judging by the level of sound, the spectators were right by the mic. Also, there may be a second (or third!) Harambe-er on the course.

Is "Harambe" the new "mashed potatoes"? We'll have to wait and see. It's only Thurday, after all.
