A series of short birdie putts gave Heath Slocum a comfortable lead Sunday. It took a 60-foot birdie putt down the stretch to pull away from the pack and win the McGladrey Classic in St. Simons Island, Ga.

Slocum's long birdie putt from behind the 16th green banged into the pin and disappeared into the cup for an unlikely birdie, sending him to a 2-under 68 and a one-shot victory over Bill Haas.

"That's a putt he'll always remember," Haas said.

Slocum has a few of those. It was his first victory since he won The Barclays last year by making a 10-foot birdie on the last hole to beat Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington and Steve Stricker.

Slocum earned $720,000 U.S., which moved him to 29th on the PGA money list with one tournament left. The top 30 earn invitations to the Masters.

Graham DeLaet (69) of Weyburn, Sask., tied for 25th.

Lee Westwood will take over the No. 1 world ranking from Tiger Woods on Halloween. Westwood, who tied for 11th in the Dunhill Links Championship on Sunday, has an ankle injury and doesn't plan to play again until the end of November. Woods, meanwhile, doesn't plan to play until Nov. 4. Using the complex rankings system, that means Westwood will rise to No. 1 on Oct. 31.

Y.E. Yang, who won a duel with Tiger Woods at the 2009 PGA Championship, shot 66 to complete a stunning comeback and win the Korea Open. Yang started the final round 10 shots behind leader Noh Seung-yul, who finished with a 79.

Katherine Hull rallied to win the Navistar LPGA Classic in Prattville, Ala., her second tour victory.

Hull, who won the 2008 Canadian Women's Open, finished at 19-under 269, one shot ahead of Brittany Lincicome.

Hamilton's Alena Sharp (69) was the top Canadian, tied for 20th.
