Report: Tiger expecting to play

After dealing with back spasms at The Barclays, Tiger Woods is feeling better and expects to play in the Deutsche Bank Championship this week, according to a source close to Woods.

There hasn't been an official commitment from the Woods camp, at least according to his website.

Woods is dealing with a back injury that reared its head at the PGA Championship and was back in focus after Wednesday's pro-am at Liberty National, although the World No. 1 blamed a soft hotel bed for the discomfort.

Yet, the injury seemed to get worse throughout the week, culminating in Woods falling to his knees after hitting his second shot at the par-5 13th. He hobbled through the rest of his round before ending up tied for second, one shot back of winner Adam Scott.

Woods, who won the FedEx Cup title in 2007 and '09, was previously non-committal to playing in Boston, saying it was a "hypothetical" situation right after his round and needed more treatment for the back spasms.

Woods would play the first two rounds with Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson if his health continues to improve.
