Pro Golf Daily: Excitement Builds for Safeway Open

Despite Tiger Woods’ recent withdrawal, this week’s Safeway Open should feature plenty of great golf.

Welcome back to Pro Golf Daily.

The 2016-17 PGA Tour season hasn’t even begun yet, but we’ve already seen a massive headline come out of this week. After committing to the Safeway Open in time for last Friday’s deadline, former world No. 1 Tiger Woods withdrew from the California event on Monday morning, sending the golf world into a tizzy. The announcement came just three days before the start of the event, leaving the tournament organizers and many would-be spectators in the lurch.

While we won’t get to see Woods in action this weekend, there will still be a number of other notable players at Silverado Country Club. Their on-course exploits should provide plenty of intrigue as the new season gets underway.
