The world's best golfers will convene in Augusta, Georgia, this weekend for the 80th edition of the most famous tournament in golf, and one local member named Dan Yates has seen all but one tournament in person.

Yates, who was born in 1918, was forced to miss the 2015 Masters as he was recovering from a bout with pneumonia, but he's been to every other Masters tournament since his brother played in the inaugural Masters in 1934. Yates remembered tournament founder Bobby Jones, who Yates says was the nicest golfer he's ever met.

"He was such an easygoing fella. By then he'd won all the tournaments, but he was so gracious and such a great fella to us kids. He'd gather us around, watch us hit a few shots and then take us in the clubhouse and get a Coke. He was just an ordinary fella."

Yates also recalled that he didn't see the end of the classic 1986 Masters because he figured Jack Nicklaus had no chance to win.

"Jack was behind [Seve Ballesteros]. They had nine holes to go and Jack was out of it. And that's who I wanted to win. So I thought all was gone so I just got in the car and came home."
