Lu Wei-chih shot a hole-in-one on the par three eighth hole at his home course Saturday, finishing the third round four shots ahead in the Mercuries Taiwan Masters.

Lu used a six iron to ace the hole.

Lu's even par 72 was well off the sizzling pace he set with 66s in the first two rounds at the Taiwan Golf and Country Club in the Asian Tour event.

Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchat, the tournament's 2004 winner, carded 71 to lie within striking range, while teen prodigy Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines and Japan's Daisuke Kataoka are tied for third, a further two strokes back on 210. Thailand's Chapchai Nirat is fifth.
