How quickly have things gone downhill for Tiger Woods this season?

A 21-year-old kid with just 12 PGA Tour tournaments under his belt, Daniel Berger, moved past the iconic one in the Official World Golf Ranking. Woods slipped to 75th, his worst status since the fall of 1996 when he was only a handful of tournaments into his pro career. Of those in the top 100, Woods has tumbled the most since the first of the year, dropping 43 spots.

With Woods' return to the Tour uncertain after a self-imposed hiatus, that drop will continue at least for the short term.

Heading in the other direction, who do you think among the current crop of top 100 players has made the biggest jump since Jan. 1?

Berger, you say? Good guess, because the rookie, a playoff runner-up to Padraig Harrington in the recent Honda Classic, has jumped 228 spots, from No. 301 to 73. But give yourself a demerit if he was your choice, because the answer is Gary Stal. The Frenchman began the year 435th but is now 89th, a whopping 346-spot improvement, after having won earlier this year in Abu Dhabi.

James Hahn (363rd to 90th), who won two weeks ago at the Northern Trust Open, even outpaces Berger, with an improvement of 273. Padraig Harrington (265-82) follows Berger, at 183.
