Brittany Lincicome’s match against the men ended one day early.

Lincicome, 25, who this week became the first LPGA player to tee it up on the Hooters Tour, shot 77 Wednesday to miss the cut in a Winter Series event at Deer Island Golf Club in Tavares, Fla. She finished with a two-round total of 7-over 151, in a tie for 81st (top 38 and ties made the cut).

On the 7,029-yard Deer Island layout – about 500 yards longer than the typical track on the LPGA – Lincicome managed only four birdies in two rounds. (For the sake of comparison, she was fourth on the LPGA in birdies per round, with 3.76.)

This wasn’t Lincicome’s first foray into men’s events. The Seminole, Fla., resident previously has played on the Moonlight Tour as a way to stay fresh during the long offseason. The LPGA season doesn’t begin until mid-February.

“I didn’t want them to think that I was pulling an Annika or a Michelle Wie and trying to compare myself with the guys,” Lincicome told Golfweek’s Julie Williams on Tuesday. “Any interview that I’ve done, it’s like, it has nothing to do with that, it’s being able to stay competitive.”

Lincicome was 15th on the 2010 LPGA money list, with $663,806 in earnings.
