Lefty almost left out of PGA field

Among the things one should do before playing in the PGA Championship, registering for the PGA Championship should probably be the top priority.

No one apparently told that to Phil Mickelson, however, and as a result, the Open Championship winner nearly missed out on this weekend’s festivities at Oak Hill Country Club.

According to the Golf Channel, Mickelson did not play a practice round Wednesday and wasn’t scheduled to be at the course in Pittsford, N.Y. However, an emergency visit was in order after Mickelson realized that he never registered for the tournament

Mickelson arrived at the course at about 1:30 p.m. ET, according to the report, wearing a white T-shirt, shorts and flip flops, then left a short time later after getting his affairs in order. SB Nation provided the visual evidence of Phil’s scamper to the clubhouse:

Among other things Mickelson apparently forgot to bring with him to upstate New York? A carrying case for his Open Championship trophy. SB Nation also grabbed this gif of Mickelson’s caddy, Jim Mackay, transporting the claret jug in a backpack:

Lefty is scheduled to tee off alongside Adam Scott and Justin Rose at 1:45 p.m. ET on Thursday. Hopefully he wrote that down somewhere, just in case.
