GOLF: Sunrise Beach's Katherine Hull is within striking distance of her second LPGA Tour title after storming into second place after three rounds of the Navistar LGPA Classic in Alabama.

Hull won the 2008 Canadian Women's Open and has had a number of close misses, including finishing runner-up to Karrie Webb at the ANZ Ladies Masters earlier this year and second at the Women's British Open in August.

She birdied three of the last four holes yesterday to lift herselfinto contention with a bogey-free round, carding a five-under-par 67to end on 201 and share second place with South Korean Na Yeon Choi.Cristie Kerr is leading the field by three strokes.

While Hull, pictured, is in contention she said chasing down the United States veteran would be difficult.

C[pounds sterling]She's playing really well right now,C[yen] Hull said of Kerr.

C[pounds sterling]It's going to take a super-low number from someone behind in order to win. She'll be tough to beat.

C[pounds sterling]I don't think she's made too many mistakes out there.C[yen]

Hull has been consistent, firing rounds of 68 and 67 in the opening two days of competition.

She has registered only one bogey in 54 holes and will need to produce the same quality of golf this morning to have any chance of victory.

C[pounds sterling]I hit the ball pretty well all day. I hit 17 greens. I just couldn't get a putt to drop,C[yen] Hull said.

C[pounds sterling]We know that we've got to at a minimum shoot five or six under, four or five under to maintain your spot. If you wantto make ground, you have got to go even lower than that.

C[pounds sterling]If I can knock it close on a few holes tomorrow and roll in some only other putts, then a low number is definitely possible. I've just got to see what Cristie does, I guess.C[yen]

Despite needing to make up ground on Kerr, Hull said she wouldn't be changing her approach to the final round.

C[pounds sterling]My game plan will stay the same. Hopefully my ball striking will be just as good and the putts will drop,C[yen] she said. C[pounds sterling]I actually felt a little rusty coming into this week. My caddie and I were talking all week, it's just golf. You just hit it, find it, hit it again. That philosophy seems to be working.C[yen]
