How and when to watch the British Open first round

The world's best golfers are in South Ayrshire, Scotland, this week for the 145th Open Championship at Royal Troon, where American golfers have won the last six Opens held at the course dating back to 1962. U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson is the co-favorite along with Australia's Jason Day, but Troon has a history of producing surprise winners. Golf fans in the United States will have to wake up especially early to catch all the action the first two days, but it should be worth it.
You can stream the coverage online using the NBC Sports Live Extra app.
If you live on the West Coast, good luck. Fortunately, a number of the tournament favorites have later tee times.
