Former champion David Toms has withdrawn from the PGA Championship because of a back injury.
He was replaced in the field by Shawn Stefani.
Toms won the PGA Championship in 2001 by making par from the fairway on the 18th hole at Atlanta Athletic Club to beat Phil Mickelson by one shot. Toms holds the major championship scoring record at 265.
Toms is 117th in the FedEx Cup standings, with the top 125 advancing to the first round of the playoffs in two weeks. Toms has made 11 of 18 cuts in 2014, with two top-10 finishes.
Stefani, who lost in a playoff at the Quicken Loans National in June, will be playing the PGA Championship for the first time. He has yet to win on Tour.
