The Deutsche Bank Championship should provide a fun challenge for fantasy managers as the season starts to wind down.

If you’re a fantasy procrastinator — and who isn’t from time to time? — then this is probably one of your favorite weeks on the schedule. Thanks to its Friday start and Labor Day finish, the Deutsche Bank Championship affords fantasy managers a full four days to get their lineups sorted out, up from the usual three.

Of course, this week is also fun because of the challenge it presents. As this is the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs, the field has been reduced to just 100 PGA Tour members, so fantasy managers will need to work harder than usual to give themselves an edge over the competition.

While I can’t tell you a surefire path to victory in your league, I can identify some players who should be valuable in a number of different formats this week. Without further ado, let’s get to it. Here are five solid fantasy plays for the Deutsche Bank Championship, specifically geared towards DFS leagues.

His salary is in the stratosphere, but Jason Day is simply the best bet to provide value this week.

He may be the most expensive player in DFS this week, but you get what you pay for. The ultra-consistent Day hasn’t missed out on the top 30 anywhere since January, and he’s currently on a run of back-to-back top 10s, both of which came against strong fields. The Aussie has found the top 20 at TPC Boston in six of the last seven years, so he should be a popular pick among course historians as well as those who place a greater emphasis on form. He may hurt your flexibility further down the lineup, but no one can rival what he brings to the table this week.

Matt Kuchar seems to always perform capably at TPC Boston.

After an uncharacteristically poor ball striking week at Bethpage Black, Kuchar will look to get back on the horse at the Deutsche Bank Championship. The Georgia Tech product has notched three top 20s in his last five starts, including a third-place finish at the Olympics, so he’s been playing well enough to inspire some optimism this week. He also has some great history at TPC Boston — all told, he’s 10-for-12 with six top 25s, including two in the last three years. At just $8,400 in DraftKings, he’s a bargain, even with his tie for 64th last week.

Justin Thomas will look to improve on last year’s result at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

This Alabama product’s rise hasn’t been as meteoric as that of good pal Jordan Spieth, but Thomas is still plenty accomplished for a 23-year-old — he’s a PGA Tour winner with a great chance to make the TOUR Championship this year. With a pair of top 10s in his last two starts, including a tie for 10th at The Barclays, he should have plenty of fantasy value this week. He managed only a tie for 56th in his TPC Boston debut a year ago, but he should be able to blow that out of the water with the experience he’s gained.

Charley Hoffman loves playing at TPC Boston, and he has the results to prove it.

A classic horse for this course, Hoffman has the potential to provide major value in DFS. The UNLV product has picked up a pair of top fives in his career at TPC Boston, winning in 2010 and notching a solo third last year. With a pair of top 25s in his last two starts, he’s in the right form to post a similar finish this time around. He ranks 28th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: tee-to-green, and his $7,300 salary in DraftKings only helps his case as a first-rate option for this week.

William McGirt has the short game have a strong week at TPC Boston.

He’s not really in winning form at the moment, but McGirt has enough going for him to earn a spot in your lineup this week. The Southerner is playing decent golf — he’s made three of his last four cuts, tying for 10th at the PGA Championship a few weeks ago. He also has a solid track record at the Deutsche Bank Championship: four-for-five with a pair of top 30s, including a tie for 12th last year. Now with a PGA Tour win to his credit, it wouldn’t be surprising if McGirt rides his newfound confidence to a similar finish this year.
