Detroit man golfs way through city

Detroit's a big city, but one man has crossed it ... one shot at a time.
Charlie LeDuff, a TV reporter for MyFOXDetroit Ch. 2, took it upon himself to golf the length of the city. All 18 miles of it. Starting with a tee shot at the Michigan State Fairgrounds, LeDuff used 2,525 strokes across such obstacles as abandoned houses and dilapidated landmarks before sinking a putt at the Belle Isle Golf Course.
But golf wasn’t the real reason the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who worked in the past for the New York Times and Detroit News teed it up through down-on-its-luck Detroit. LeDuff scored aces talking with residents of half-way houses and crumbling neighborhoods while whacking his dimpled white ball across Detroit.
LeDuff christened his quest the inaugural "I Heart the D Invitational." He was afforded no drops and took no mulligans in a real-life course that features plenty of rough and little fairway.
