South Africa's Tim Clark has pulled out of next week's British Open and could be replaced by Anthony Kim of the United States.

Clark has been out of action since withdrawing from the Players Championship in May because of an injury to his left elbow.

Organizers offered Clark's place on Wednesday to Kim, who was the first reserve.

Two other Americans - Jason Dufner and Robert Garrigus - have been given spots for the tournament at Royal St. George's following the withdrawals of Tiger Woods and Thomas Levet through injury.

Clark, who won the 2010 Players title, has played only twice since his runner-up finish at the Sony Open in January.
