India's golfing fraternity has been quick to praise Arjun Atwal, who became the country's first PGA Tour winner with his victory at the Wyndham Championship.
Atwal finished with a 20-under 260 to win at Sedgefield Country Club by one stroke Sunday and earn a winners purse of $918,000 - more than double the amount he previously earned this year.
Atwal also became the first Monday qualifier to win on the PGA Tour in 24 years.
Indian veteran Gaurav Ghei described Atwal's achievement as ''undoubtedly the biggest thing to happen to Indian golf.''

Ghei, who became the first Indian to qualify for the British Open in 1997, said Atwal's PGA Tour win was ''an achievement that most of us never even dreamt of.''
