Alexander Levy among 11 to qualify at Walton Heath for U.S. Open
One day after Alexander Levy slipped out of the top 60 in the world ranking, he went out and qualified for the U.S. Open the old-fashioned way.
The Frenchman golfed rounds of 66-67 on the Old and New Courses at Walton Heath this weekend to earn one of 11 spots in the U.S. Open.
"I'm really happy. I played really good golf for the two 18 holes. I was positive and had a good attitude. It's nice to play the US Open. I was a little upset to slip out of the top 60 before Wentworth so it's great to now get in," Levy told the European Tour. "It will be my first time in the US Open. I missed the Masters, so it will be great to play in another major."
The other players earning spots in the 36-hole qualifier were: Shiv Kapur, John Parry, Alex Noren, Lucas Bjerregaard, Jason Palmer, Marcel Siem, Tjaart Van Der Walt, Garth Mulroy, Thomas Aiken and Marcus Fraser.
A bogey at the final hole caused Padraig Harrington to narrowly miss out on a spot at Chamber's Bay next month.
The U.S. Open will take place June 18-21.
