The Mountain West Conference has suspended Wyoming linebacker Nehemie Kankolongo one game for hitting Air Force kick returner Anthony LaCoste with the crown of his helmet last weekend.
A review of the play Monday showed the junior linebacker had targeted and initiated contact with the crown of his helmet during the Cowboys' 56-23 victory Saturday night.
The play wasn't flagged on the field. LaCoste fumbled and Cowboys defender Devyn Harris recovered, setting up a Wyoming touchdown in the second quarter.
Kankolongo will miss Wyoming's game at Texas State on Saturday.
