PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) Carlton Agudosi had seven catches for 96 yards in Rutgers' 101-play scrimmage Saturday after making four receptions for 96 yards in last week's scrimmage.

''Carlton's coming on,'' coach Kyle Flood said.

After five catches for 32 yards last season, and five receptions for 79 yards in 2013, Agudosi is in line to have a much more significant role in the offense.

''I have to make plays when it's my turn to make plays so they can see I'm reliable,'' he said.

''If I could just keep stringing along good days, there's no way it wouldn't carry over to a game,'' Agudosi added.

At 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, Agudosi can bring an element that few receivers do with his combination of size and speed.

''A body type like that becomes really valuable as long as he's doing all the other things consistently, and he's doing that now, and he's done that for a significant amount of time,'' Flood said. ''He's investing himself in the staff and he's earning himself some playing time, no doubt.''

Fellow wide receiver John Tsimis has been what Flood called ''the poster child for consistency.''

''He does a great job of, first of all, knowing his job, and because he knows it so well, he can play full speed,'' Flood said. ''He's got tremendous hands, tremendous ball skills. Those are the things we saw on high school film when we took him, but I'm excited about John. John is a mature presence on our football team that makes plays.''

On Saturday, the 6-foot, 185-pound junior had seven catches for 82 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown catch. Tsimis had 19 catches for 188 yards and three touchdowns last season.

The Scarlet Knights will play their spring game Friday at 7:30 p.m. at High Point Solutions Stadium.
