W. Michigan 49, Nicholls 14

Alex Carder passed for 298 yards and five touchdowns and Western Michigan beat Nicholls State 49-14 Saturday night.
Carder completed a 74-yard TD pass to Jordan White for the Broncos (1-1). White also caught a 5-yard scoring pass and had six catches for 130 yards.
Carder had three of TD passes in the third quarter, and Dareyon Chance rushed 1 yard for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Broncos opened the game with an eight-play, 78-yard drive finished off by Antoin Scriven rushing 1 yard to score.
The Colonels (0-2) answered that touchdown when Jesse Turner rushed 52 yards to score in the second quarter.
Nicholls State scored after an interception when LaQuintin Caston completed a 4-yard pass to Joshua Warren to score.
The game was the first meeting between the teams.
