Western Kentucky snapped the nation's longest losing streak on Saturday, beating Louisiana-Lafayette 54-21 on Saturday.

The Hilltoppers (1-6, 1-2 Sun Belt Conference), in their second year as a member of the Football Bowl Subdivision, had lost 26 straight games for the longest loss streak among all NCAA divisions.

Western Kentucky lost its final eight games in 2008 in a 2-10 season before going 0-12 last year and losing its first six this year.

The Hilltoppers scored 17 unanswered points in the final 3:02 of the first half to take a 27-7 lead and then scored on their first two possessions of the second half. Derrius Brooks then returned an interception 62 yards for a touchdown with 13:17 left to build a 47-14 lead.

Chris Masson completed 16 of 34 passes for 223 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for the Ragin' Cajuns (2-5, 2-3).
