South Florida punt returner Terrence Mitchell was carted off the field after being injured while making a tackle early in the fourth quarter of the 18th-ranked Bulls' game against UTEP on Saturday night.
Mitchell launched himself with head lowered and appeared to hit UTEP's Ian Campbell with his shoulder, knocking the UTEP punter out of bounds at the end of a 19-yard run on a fake punt play.
Mitchell remained on the ground for several minutes while receiving medical attention, then was carted off the field. There was no immediate word on the nature or severity of the injury.
